TWO people, including a fouryear- old boy, died in separate
incidents in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday. The boy, Yunus
Abidjan, a resident of Keko area in Temeke Municipality drowned
in a well. The Temeke Regional Police Commander (RPC),
Engerbelt Kiondo, said that the incident occurred around 2:45pm
when he drowned in an uncovered well.
"The boy fell into the well and was retrieved by good Samaritans
while he was still alive but he died on the way to hospital," he
said.
The body of the deceased is preserved at Temeke hospital
pending postmortem and burial.
In a separate incident, a motorcyclist identified as Athuman
Abdallah (28), died in a road accident at the Mandela Expressway
and Tabata Road junction in Ilala Municipality.
According to the Ilala RPC, Ms Marietha Minangi, the victim was
riding a Sanya motorcycle with registration number T 237 CPM
travelling from Tabata towards Buguruni area.
"The motorcyclist was knocked from behind by a DAF lorry with
registration number T 936 BNT with trailer number T 442 AWM,
which was heading towards the same direction with the
motorcycle," she said.
The body of the deceased was taken to Amana hospital for
preservation pending burial while the lorry driver disappeared
soon after the accident and the lorry is being held at Buguruni
Police Station.
